A top-of-the-range LED wall with a long service life

With a major sporting summer ahead, The KNVB asked AVEX to design a new dynamic display wall – a real eye-catcher. In addition, durability was a key requirement. The team only switches off the screen on the central Oranjeplein at night and it therefore operates for many hours. Factors such as low energy consumption and a long service life were key considerations when selecting the LED wall.
The chosen screen has a lifespan of over 10 years if left on continuously. At the KNVB, the screen is used on average 5 days a week, for around 16 hours a day.

“The screen’s dimensions must be in proportion to the size of the space. There is also plenty of daylight, which influences the choice you make. We settled on a 20 m² LED wall measuring 7.5 m x 2.7 m with top-level image quality. In terms of size and visual impact, the new screen is a perfect match for its surroundings. It plays a prominent role in the large open space,” says Marcel Brinkhof, account manager at AVEX.

Versatile use and ease of operation

AVEX designed the audiovisual system to provide the right visuals, sound and lighting for any type of event, from plenary presentations to press conferences. Users can quickly reconfigure the room to suit any occasion.

“Most importantly, it’s incredibly easy to use. Switching from a presentation to the TV, for example. If a football team is here in the evening, you want to be able to switch easily to live TV on the big screen. It’s all much simpler than it used to be,” says Jacco Rozenberg, Operations Manager at the KNVB Campus.

The system features a touch panel for simple operation, with clear preset buttons for the various settings. AVEX equipped the fixed server rack with all the necessary inputs, so that users can connect any data source or presentation source quickly and effortlessly. Furthermore, the system also supports Microsoft Teams for video conferencing.

The content can be displayed in multiple ‘windows’ simultaneously on the large screen. Templates have been created by AVEX in the KNVB’s corporate style for this purpose. Weather forecasts, sports news and similar content can also be displayed, creating a more dynamic overall experience.
