With OpenX, Avans University of Applied Sciences introduced an innovative learning environment where education, research and entrepreneurship come together. Within this inspiring environment, AVEX delivered a wide range of audiovisual solutions for study, work and meeting spaces.
From modern meeting solutions to striking LED displays and digital signage, the technology helps create an environment where students, lecturers and partners can easily collaborate, share knowledge and inspire one another.
The challenge
A learning environment that encourages collaboration and innovation
As part of the development of OpenX, an existing 5,000 m² wing was completely transformed. The aim was to create an environment where different groups could meet, collaborate and learn from one another.
Alongside study and workspaces, the new environment includes event spaces, a makerspace with Virtual Reality, themed rooms centred around the Sustainable Development Goals and various meeting areas. The audiovisual solutions needed to complement the architecture, the desired atmosphere and the different ways in which each space would be used.

The solution
Audiovisual technology for every learning and meeting space
AVEX provided the design, engineering, supply and implementation, as well as content creation in the Avans visual identity and complete project management.
Throughout OpenX, a variety of audiovisual solutions support collaboration and knowledge sharing. Striking LED displays create a strong visual experience, while digital signage provides visitors with information and helps them find their way around the building.
At the entrance, a double-sided suspended LED display immediately catches the eye and supports both branding and information sharing. In the event space, a wide curved LED display follows the shape of the room and enhances interaction between speakers and their audience.
Working closely with Avans and the architect, AVEX selected solutions that seamlessly complement both the design and use of the building.

According to Avans, students really enjoy using the building. They actively choose OpenX as a place to study and collaborate, with other spaces across the campus sometimes remaining empty as a result.
