An energising workplace at ONVZ
A workplace designed for meeting and collaboration.
ONVZ Health Insurer wanted to transform its existing office in Houten into an environment that supports a different way of working. It wasn’t just the interior that changed, but also the way employees use the building.
With Energiek Werken, ONVZ’s own approach to flexible working, employees are encouraged to move between different spaces throughout the day, meet one another and choose a setting that suits the task at hand. The audiovisual technology needed to make this way of working as easy as possible.
The challenge
Technology that supports a new way of working
For the refurbishment, ONVZ deliberately chose to retain its existing building. The office was modernised and made more sustainable in line with BREEAM-NL guidelines, with reuse and recycling as important principles.
At the same time, the workplace itself changed. Fixed workstations gave way to greater flexibility, while central areas such as the atrium and restaurant became multifunctional spaces.
This also created new requirements for the technology. Employees needed to be able to find and book rooms easily, present wirelessly and use different spaces flexibly throughout the working day.

The solution
AV that becomes part of the workplace
The audiovisual technology was tailored to the different spaces and the way employees use them. Meeting rooms were equipped with displays sized according to the room and its purpose. In the larger boardrooms, employees can present wirelessly using Barco ClickShare.
ONVZ uses Sentido room booking to manage meeting and collaboration spaces. A display outside each room shows which meeting is scheduled and how long it will last, while employees can make reservations directly from their familiar Outlook calendar.
AV is also integrated into the interior beyond the meeting rooms. In the atrium, two large displays are built into the furniture. A lift system allows the screens to appear when needed and disappear from view when the space is being used for another purpose.
In this way, the technology supports the different ways ONVZ uses its workplace throughout the day.

Central areas can also be adapted for different purposes. The technology therefore supports not only meetings and presentations, but ONVZ’s wider approach to collaboration, interaction and movement throughout the workplace.
Rather than being a goal in itself, the audiovisual technology has become a practical part of a workplace designed around the people who use it every day.
