Our history
From jukeboxes to an international AV partner
Our story begins in 1952. Not with meeting rooms, LED walls or video conferencing, but with jukeboxes. What started as the Eerste Utrechtse Jukebox Centrale grew into an international audiovisual solutions company. Technology evolved, new markets emerged and AVEX evolved with them.
More than 70 years later, we’re still moving forward.
1952
Where it all began
In 1952, Wout Schaddelee founded the Eerste Utrechtse Jukebox Centrale (EUJC). The company supplied jukeboxes to cafés and other hospitality venues. Amusement machines were added later.
In the years that followed, both technology and customer needs changed. Audiovisual equipment became an increasingly important part of the business, gradually laying the foundations for what would later become AVEX.
1988
From EUJC to AVEX
Audiovisual technology had become an increasingly important part of the business. In 1988, AVEX – Audiovisuele Experts – was established, giving the company a name that reflected its new direction.
But EUJC never disappeared completely. The AVEX logo has its origins in the original visual identity of the Eerste Utrechtse Jukebox Centrale – a piece of our history that remains with us to this day.
Working together for decades
HEINEKEN × AVEX
Some developments are best told through technology. Others can be seen in the relationships that have grown with us over the years.
HEINEKEN and AVEX have been working together since 1990. During that time, not only has audiovisual technology evolved, but so has the way people meet, present and collaborate.
From audio solutions to state-of-the-art meeting rooms, our partnership has evolved alongside new technologies and changing needs.

2000
A new home in Breukelen
As AVEX continued to grow, the company moved to a new location in Breukelen in 2000. From this new home, the organisation continued to expand.
Breukelen remains AVEX’s headquarters to this day.
1995
A partnership that evolved with the times
In 1995, AVEX delivered one of its largest projects to date for VSB Bank. With a value of more than one million Dutch guilders, the project marked an important milestone in AVEX’s growth.
A great deal changed in the years that followed. VSB Bank became part of Fortis and ultimately ABN AMRO. Audiovisual technology evolved too, along with the way people work, meet and communicate.
What remained was the partnership.
From the AV technology of the 1990s to today’s modern workplace and event environments, more than 30 years later AVEX continues to work with ABN AMRO.

2003
Our first step beyond the Netherlands
The launch of AVEX Belgium in 2003 marked an important next step. For the first time, AVEX had its own operation outside the Netherlands.
What began as a Utrecht-based business was steadily developing into an international AV partner.
2013
AVEX comes to the UK
Ten years after expanding into Belgium, AVEX took its next international step. AVEX UK was established in 2013.
With its own operations in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom, AVEX was able to support a growing number of international customers across borders.
2016
AVEX acquires Hulskamp
In 2016, AVEX acquired the activities of Hulskamp Audiovisueel. The acquisition marked a significant expansion of the organisation and strengthened both its audiovisual integration and events capabilities.
2016
Connected worldwide
That same year, AVEX joined GPA, an international network of audiovisual integrators.
This enables AVEX to support organisations not only from the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom, but – together with international partners – to deliver consistent AV solutions worldwide.

2026
AVEX acquires Yielder Audiovisual
In 2026, AVEX acquired Yielder Audiovisual B.V. and its activities. Yielder Audiovisual, formerly known as Hecla Professional Audio & Video Systems, has a long history in the audiovisual industry.
The acquisition strengthens AVEX’s position in the Dutch business market and expands its presence into the eastern Netherlands. Yielder’s experienced specialists become part of AVEX, with Almelo becoming a new AVEX location.
The acquisition also expands AVEX’s service offering with specialist audiovisual solutions for sectors including funerals and weddings.
Today
From Utrecht to an international AV partner
From jukeboxes and amusement machines to Microsoft Teams Rooms, LED walls, auditoriums, control rooms, digital signage, professional audio and international events. Today’s technology would have been almost unimaginable in 1952. Yet, more than 70 years later, much has also remained the same.
We remain curious about new technology. We grow alongside our customers. And we continue to find new ways to help people communicate, collaborate and create meaningful experiences. Today, 300+ colleagues work across seven locations in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Through our international network, we support customers far beyond these countries too. And despite that growth, AVEX remains a family-owned business.
